Perfect weather for Kingston Beach Fun Run

The 17th annual Kingston Rotary Fun Run Walk organised by the Rotary Club of Kingston was held in perfect weather on Sunday, the last weekend in autumn.
Four hundred and fifty runners and walkers participated in the 5km run/walk from the Kingborough Sports Centre to the finish line on Kingston Beach.
Apart from being a significant event in the winter fun run calendar, the event supports Rotary’s Youth Programs in the Kingborough community.
The event was again well supported by Tasmania Police, SES, Kingston Fire Service, Kingston Beach Sailing Club, Hazell Bros and many Kingborough businesses that donated the many spot prizes for the event.
After the bad storms that caused its postponement last year, many participants including those of the Tasmanian Road Runners were excited to see the Fun Run back in May and back to its usual course.
A feature of the event was the large number of families, many with prams and their dogs, who participated this year.
A crowd of onlookers, family and friends packed the finish line on Kingston Beach to cheer on the those competing.
In the Male section of the event Aaron Humphrey was the winner with a time of 15.19 followed in by Bailey Murzecki-Hince 15.23, and third Abbas Rajab Ali 15.42.
In the Female section Melanie Daniels crossed the line first with a time of 16.22, with Ruby Smee second 17.01, and Ebony Webb third on 18.47.
The crowd enjoyed the barbecue cooked by the Rotary Club and swapped stories about the run and walk.
