Women’s club celebrates 40 years

Friendship, mutual support and good fun have drawn together women from the Kingborough area to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Kingborough Women’s Club on Friday, November 15.

Founded by Daphne Fyfe, the social club is run by a group of dedicated women who are committed to bringing the benefits and values of the club to the community.

In honour of Daphne’s commitment to the club, members of her family were in attendance to mark the occasion, including her husband Don, children Jilll, James and Kate, daughter in law Rose and great-grandson Harrison.

The anniversary was celebrated at the Kingborough Women’s Club building, a hidden gem located behind the Kingston Beach Oval on Ewing avenue.

Many of the club’s members were in attendance to celebrate the occasion and enjoyed a delicious selection of homemade cakes, biscuits and slices as well as a special 40th anniversary cake baked by Club President Gillian Fife.

In thanks for the ongoing support of the Kingborough Council, Property Officer Sean Kerr was invited to attend and helped by cutting the cake for the celebration.

The club also hosts public events throughout the year and the next will be an art upplies sale on December 8 at the Kingborough Women’s Club building which will be a wealth of great bargains.

Over the past 40 years, the club has been connecting women to each other and the community by running a variety of activities and providing a haven for women to gather in a social environment.

New women are always welcome to join the KWC and experience the enjoyment for themselves.

Contact the KWC on 03 6267 4842 to find out more information about activities and gathering times.
