Rotary Club of Kingston celebrated their 50th anniversary of service to the local community with a dinner on Saturday, November 27 at the Kingborough Bowls and Community Club in Margate.
Approximately 80 people attended including past and current Rotarians.
The night opened with nibbles and socialising outside the bowls club and was followed by a dinner inside which included music by DayStar Duo.
Past President, Ewan Cameron was MC for the night which included the history of the club’s achievements in the local community and abroad since being established in 1971.
The Rotary Club of Kingston have been involved in many projects that have benefitted those in need including travelling to Fiji in 2006 to build housing and equip a library, building the Manor Respite Centre Gardens in Kingston in 1996, and more recently construction of a bus shelter at Sandfly.
The Rotary Youth Exchange program has been extremely successful for the Kingston club with 36 exchange students coming from all parts of the world over the past 50 years.
During the anniversary dinner past exchange students shared their testimonials and experiences of their visit to Kingston and Tasmania.
