Old Nick Company’s Hobart Theatre Summer School is set to perform another show-stopping musical in February, with their talented cast of teenagers performing Guys and Dolls.

Following the success of Heathers in 2021, they’re back with the golden age musical Guys and Dolls, opening on Friday, February 4 at Mt Nelson Theatre, Hobart College.
Set in 1930’s New York,  Guys and Dolls has all the ingredients of a classic musical.
The show is packed-full of classic show tunes and impressive dance numbers.
This year saw a record number of auditions, with over 70 students flocking to Old Nick Company for a role in the cast.
Many cast members are from the Kingborough area including Jade Hughes-Gage (playing Liver Lips Louie), Sarah Field-Westlake (playing Mimi), Sophie Henderson (playing a New Yorker), Charlotte Tomlin (playing a New Yorker), Catie Williams (playing Harry the Horse) and Jess Plaister (playing a Hot Box Dancer).
Kingborough’s own Belle Riseley is the show’s stage manager, while David Thomson, a frequent face in the Hobart Theatre scene for the last 12 years, is making his directorial debut in this show.
“Guys and Dolls is a great show for Summer School,” said David.
“In a time of so much stress and uncertainty this lighthearted comedy with romance, amazing show tunes and a happy ending is exactly what Hobart needs.
“Everyone, from our cast to our production team has fully embraced the golden age of theatre and we can’t wait for the audience to join us.”
Alongside David, Caitlin Carnaby is stepping into the role of Choreographer, with Andrew Castles as the Musical Director and Samantha Hammersley as the Vocal Director.
The Kingborough Chronicle newspaper is also making an appearance is the newspaper prop for the production.
The Hobart Theatre Summer School program provides aspiring theatrical performers aged 15-19 years the opportunity to be part of a full-scale production.
This unique experience also gives them the chance to learn from industry professionals
