Woodbridge foodies Kara Taffs, McLaren Burgoyne and Mei Yen Chua have collected, compiled, designed and illustrated a local cookbook of delights.

The Woodbridge Community Cookbook of delights from the D’Entrecasteaux Channel was conceived to help fund the local events happening as part of the Woodbridge Life 2022 celebrations.
The cookbook is jam packed with delightful illustrations by local artist Mei Yen Chua, who professionally undertakes work in editing and indexing.
Layout design and typesetting work was performed by local Kara Taffs, who also runs a design business with her husband in Gardners Bay.
The recipes were collected and compiled by Woodbridge Life 2022 committee member McLaren Burgoyne.
“It began as a celebration, but we determined quiet early on that was not as inclusive as we wanted to be, so it is now Woodbridge Life 2022,” said McLaren.
The Kingborough Chronicle met with the trio at the Woodbridge Village Store to gain some insight on the production process.
“Requests for recipes were sent out in April 2021, with a November distribution deadline,” noted McLaren Burgoyne.
“We reached out to local residents, local producers and well know culinary aficionados for this book and were delighted with the response.
“Entries arrived in many forms.
“Snaps of well-loved and stained recipe cards, sleek professional glossy pictured recipes and recipes from so many different nationalities all using the beautify produce of our region.
“Of course, the number of apple recipes was no surprise, but the number of secret family and signature dishes was amazing.
“We even discovered the Woodbridge’s Famous Tomato Relish, provided to us by five different people each with their own personal touch.
The cookbook was published in late 2021 and is available for purchase at the Woodbridge Post Office, Peppermint Bay Restaurant, Woodbridge Village Store and the State Cinema in North Hobart.
The Kingborough Chronicle will be publishing further details, photos and a selection of recipes in forthcoming editions.
