Illawarra Primary School teachers and support staff, members of the Australian Education Union (AEU), stopped work on Thursday morning, August 25, drawing a line for better working conditions and improved student learning conditions.

The Blackmans Bay school teachers and staff and children are among increasing numbers of Tasmanian school staff who have taken strike action in recent weeks, to send a loud message the State Government.
Protest placards held by staff outside Illawarra Primary read, “More teachers”, “More in-class support”, “More school psychologists”, “Value our teachers” and “Pay my mum more money”.
