Book Week is always an exciting time at Channel Christian School, and 2022 did not disappoint.
“There was a real buzz around the place!” noted Learning Support staff member, Kylie Townsend.
“This year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia theme Dreaming With Eyes Open, celebrates Country as the first storyteller, and acknowledges the power and place of stories in our lives.”
Channel Christian School’s library was busy with events including the school’s annual Book Fair, a ‘Costume Corner’ for dress-ups, and a colouring-in/drawing competition.
“The costume parade day could not be dampened by the light showers, as students and staff from all classes proudly displayed their wonderfully creative efforts,” said Librarian, Mrs Heit.
“There were classic characters, unique creations and lesser-known personas on show.
“Costumes weren’t the only thing on display.
“A record number of students chose to participate in Channel’s traditional Write-Your-Own-Story event, putting pen to paper to become authors themselves then dressing up as a character from their own composition.
“The judges really had their work cut out for them,” noted Mrs Heit, commenting on the standard of stories submitted.
“All in all, it was a fantastic week of celebrating storytelling and sharing the wonder and privilege of reading together.”
