The Kingborough Helping Hands Sharing Tree was officially opened on Friday morning, November 25 at Channel Court Shopping Centre.
The tree is located in front of Woolworths and welcomes the community to donate Christmas gifts to local families in need this Christmas.
“Last year we gave away 1500 gifts including 250 hampers worth $100 each and 180 gift packs for the elderly,” said Edna Pennicott, President of Kingborough Helping Hands.
“There is way more demand this year already, people are doing it tough. However, we are confident we will get it done, and give Christmas gifts to all those in need.”
St Aloysius students helped officially open the Sharing Tree by cutting the ribbon and Kingborough Councillors, politicians, businesses, community groups and locals were in attendance to donate the first gifts under the tree.
