Kingborough now has a certified Changing Place located in the Community Hub which is accessible with a MLAK key.
Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the newly certified Changing Place is a welcomed addition to the Community Hub’s facility.
“The Changing Place is a unisex accessible adult change facility for community members who required more specialised equipment,” Cr Wriedt said.
“Some people living with disability require more equipment to allow them to comfortably be able to visit and use our community facilities.
“The Changing Place is a dedicated space which includes a ceiling hoist, height adjustable adult size change table, a toilet with grab rails, screens for privacy and is a large enough for an assistant,” Cr Wriedt said.
“This is Kingborough’s first Changing Places facility and one of only four in Tasmania.
“I am proud that it is located in our centralised Community Hub for anyone with a MLAK key.
“This facility allows residents the chance to participate in events at the Community Hub as well as Kingston Park.”
“As Chair to the Disability Inclusion and Access Advisory Committee for Council, I understand the importance of providing facilities that are supported with accessible equipment ensuring all in our community can enjoy getting out about in Kingborough.”
Please note: to use the ceiling hoist a person must have their own sling.
