Kingborough Hub said farewell to its Creative Market founder and coordinator Tanya Moore at the market last weekend.
After 10 years of mentorship, encouragement and market coordination, Tanya is leaving the state to be closer to family.
Tanya’s market coordination journey started back in 2012 when she founded the very popular ‘The Shabby Market’.
Tanya’s mission throughout her market journey has been to provide a platform to encourage and support Tasmanian businesses gain exposure and trade.
Hayley Barber and Lauren Yomataris will be taking over from Tanya as joint market coordinators.
“We would like to wish Tanya well on her adventure to far north Queensland,” Lauren said.
“She is well loved in the community.”
Hayley and Lauren hope to build on Tanya’s legacy as they take on coordinating the market.
“Tanya has done the heavy lifting since taking over from the previous The Kingston Market run at the Hub, creating a quality market with high patronage, a variety of handmade stalls, delicious food options and entertainment and produce,” Hayley said.
Hayley and Lauren’s vision for the market is to create a space for budding entrepreneurs to showcase their wares and to offer a diverse, entertaining and community-centred market.
“To enhance community engagement and as a way to give back locally, each month we will invite a local community group to host a stall for free and give them a chance to reach a wider audience with a spotlight on our social channels and in person, raising awareness for them and the issues they are supporting,” Lauren said.
“We will also be on the hunt for local talent to provide entertainment; musicians and entertainers of all sorts are welcome to get in touch.
“We plan to continue Tanya’s work with the next generation, offering a youth section and we encourage any aspiring entrepreneurial youth to get in touch if they’d like to host a stall.”
Lauren and Hayley said Tanya’s expertise and knowledge will be missed but they are ready for the challenge.
