Channel Christian School was one of 12 Tasmanian schools to receive a sustainability grant through the Keeping Australia Beautiful school grants program.
“We are so excited to have received a grant for our school gardening group,” said Mrs Libby Hudson, the school chaplain.
“We are a growing primary school in the Channel area and with that growth our garden and composting program has exciting opportunities to expand.”
The grant money is being invested into building a vertical edible garden filled with strawberries, herbs and salads.
Individual composting tumblers for each building will be purchased so that students can access the gardens with ease.
“These are both great opportunities for our students to engage in outdoor learning and understand sustainable practices that can positively impact our planet,” said Libby.
