Taroona Primary School hosted judges from the University of Tasmania and interstate to determine the state winner of the Kids in Space Program run by the Andy Thomas Space Foundation, the Australian Space Agency and Makers Empire.
Students and teachers from eight Tasmanian primary schools came together on Wednesday, June 28 at Taroona to share their ideas for improving life in space.
“With Tania Glover’s enthusiasm, and support from Philly Hughes, our school has been involved in this pioneering new program designed to deliver education and awareness of the opportunities in space careers to Australian primary school-aged children,” said Taroona Primary School in a Facebook post.
“We were thrilled when Finn and Nahuel’s project was award the peer prize at the end of the judging.
“Congratulations to all of the children in Year 5-6 who have engaged so eagerly in this project during Design and Technologies lessons, and to Tania, the Year 5-6 teaching team and office administration staff for ensuring today’s event was an outstanding success for all involved.”
School Administration Clerk Erin Richardson also expressed gratitude to ExpoTas who provided the display boards and tables for the event.
