Community bushfire resilience project

On Sunday, October 15 Sparking Conversations, Igniting Action held a bushfire forum for Lesley Vale to Lower Longley at the Sandfly Hall.

Sparking Conversations, Igniting Action is a community bushfire resilience project working across four greater Hobart council areas to provide communities with the support they need to better prepare for and build resilience to bushfires.

Representatives from Kingborough Council, Sandfly Fire Brigade and the Huon Agricultural Society provided attendees with information about bushfire response and safety.

Kingborough’s 2023 bush fire season has started with the Tasmanian Fire Service declaring fire permits required now in southern Tasmania.

Clean gutters, gutter guards, fireproof landscaping, and vegetation clearing are all helpful ways to prepare your home and property for the threat of bushfires.

The Kingborough Chronicle has a Fire Awareness feature on pages 14 to 17 with helpful advice from local businesses and organisations.
