This weekend saw former Taroona resident Princess Mary crowned as Queen Consort of Denmark.
Her husband King Frederick ascended the throne following his mother Queen Margrethe’s abdication.
Queen Mary is the first Australian-born Queen of a European monarchy, a graduated student of Taroona High School, Hobart College and University of Tasmania.
Celebrations have been held across Tasmania, with the Tasman Bridge lit up in red and white on Sunday, January 12 to commemorate Queen Mary’s coronation.
