Blackmans Bay athlete Tim Belstead travelled to Noosa Heads, Queensland for the Ultraman Australia 10th Anniversary 2025 event in May.
Tim battled through three gruelling days, undeterred by the wet and challenging conditions, to claim victory, emerging as the overall champion in a field of competitors from across the globe.
The Ultraman kicked off with a 10-kilometre swim and 140-kilometre bike ride on day one.
Tim splashed his way to a record-breaking time of 2 hours 14 minutes and 49 seconds in the swim, and topped it off by ranking first in the bike riding event as well, finishing in a time of 4 hours 26 minutes 58 seconds.
There was no time to rest his legs as day two featured a 281.1-kilometre bike ride, bringing the total distance travelled on two wheels to 421.1 kilometres.
Tim maintained his lead by finishing first in the second day of bike riding with a time of 8 hours 51 minutes and 28 seconds, beating the next closest opponent by four minutes.
Day three saw Tim lose wind to rank fifth in the final leg, an 84.3-kilometre run.
Tim completed the double marathon in 8 hours 21 minutes and 50 seconds, which was quick enough to squeeze his aggregated time into just under 24 hours, ensuring his well-earned win.
Tim also used this event to raise money for the Alex Gadomski Fellowship, which was established to fund research into bone marrow failure in memory of Alex, who passed away from bone marrow complications at the age of 21 in 2017.
Tim dedicated his win to Alex, who is his cousin.
