Kingston Beach Coastcare (KBC) was named one of the 11 Landcare Award winners during the National Landcare Awards Gala Dinner held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland.
The awards were presented by ABC TV Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis in front of an audience of over 600 guests.
KBC received the Greyhound Coastcare Award in recognition of the contribution they have made to improving the coastal environment.
KBC has operated continuously for 25 years, getting involved in a range of projects to heal the land and water of their coastal ecosystems and encouraging healthy habitat for native flora and fauna in this high conservation value area.
The KBC members are no strangers to this award, having won the equivalent in last year’s Tasmanian Landcare Awards.
“I wholeheartedly believe all winners and finalists are shining examples of how community engagement, leadership and landcare can come together to create a lasting legacy for environmental conservation and for sustainable agriculture,” Landcare Australia CEO Dr Shane Norrish said.
“Each winner has demonstrated an extraordinary level of effort and commitment that stands out on a national level.”
