The Leisure and Lifestyle Team at Snug Village has received national recognition after being named a finalist in the 2026 Ageing Australia You are ACE! Awards for a touching tribute to the late David Dungey.
The Christian Homes Tasmania team was shortlisted in the Consumer Focus and Care category for organising a special motorcade in March to celebrate Mr Dungey’s lifelong passion for Jaguars and his contribution as a founding member of the Tasmanian Jaguar Club.
Mr Dungey, who was a resident of Snug Village and has since sadly passed away, had been an active member of the Jaguar club since 1973.
The motorcade brought his passion to him, with vehicles courtesy of the Jaguar Car Club of Tasmania looping around the Snug Village facility while residents gathered to watch.
The event provided an opportunity to celebrate Mr Dungey’s lifelong connection with Jaguars and recognise the legacy he had created through more than five decades of involvement with the club.
The Leisure and Lifestyle Team’s efforts earned them a place among the national finalists in the awards, which attracted almost 500 nominations from across Australia.
The Snug team was judged on the planning and successful execution of the project, teamwork and collaboration, and the innovative way the event delivered a meaningful and personalised experience for a resident.
While the team did not take home the national award when winners were announced on Friday, August 7, their selection as finalists provided significant recognition of the care and thought that went into creating the memorable occasion for Mr Dungey.
Ageing Australia CEO Tom Symondson said the awards celebrated the dedication, care and compassion demonstrated across Australia’s aged care sector and recognised those working to improve the lives of older Australians.
For the Snug Village team, the finalist recognition now also serves as a fitting tribute to Mr Dungey and the passion that inspired the special day.
