Award-winning community hub reopens

Mayor of Kingborough, Cr Dean Winter, is thrilled to announce the reopening of the Kingborough Community Hub.
“I’m delighted that our premier venue is reopening to the public,” Mayor Winter said.
“With the backdrop of kunanyi/Mt Wellington, Whitewater Creek and soon to be the best playground in Tasmania, the Hub is a unique and
flexible space for all sorts of meetings, activities and events.

“We’ve already seen a variety of large and small events and markets before the pandemic hit us and we are very excited to be opening our doors once again to these.
“I’m particularly delighted to see the return of the 4 Seasons Market on Sunday, November 29 for their monthly market, showcasing local producers
and makers.
“If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is we need to support our local businesses and help them thrive into the future.
“The Hub is the heart of Kingston Park and with the transformation of Kingston to a green, walkable and engaging place to stay, it will be a much
sought-after venue for years to come,” Mayor Winter remarked.
The Kingborough Community Hub has been the subject of numerous awards for its flexible and striking architecture.
Recently the Alan C Walker Award for Public Architecture was awarded to the Kingborough Community Hub and architects March Studio at the
Tasmanian Architecture Awards.
Completed in 2019, the Hub was designed to meet the needs of a range of community and corporate hirers.
The Hub offers a variety of spaces for hire including the Auditorium, which can seat 120 people, and complies with COVID safety measures.
It boasts a unique bi-fold door which opens up to the terrace, creating a perfect indoor/outdoor venue with the mountain as a backdrop.
Auditorium has already hosted successful film screenings, markets and ceremonial events, with high-quality audio-visual equipment.
Off to the side of the Auditorium is the Longley Gallery, which is suitable for pop-ups, workshops and meetings.
The immediate street frontage allows for maximum exposure.
Other hireable spaces include the Middleton Room, a large training and meeting space with the capacity to host smaller exhibitions and events.
The Snug space sits off the meeting room and, as its name suggests, is a small meeting room for presentations, tele-conferences and is the
perfect break-out space from the Middleton Room.

The Whitewater Room sits at the rear of the Hub with a perfect view of kunanyi/Mt Wellington and is a contemporary space for local businesses
and community groups to hold meetings and small events.
