Snug Bridge upgrade

Snug Bridge upgrade

The Snug River pedestrian bridge upgrade is underway.

The footbridge, which is part of the Snug River Track walk, runs across the mouth of Snug River.
Kingborough Council have advised the footbridge will be out of action for about a month.
“The timber bridge will be removed, and new concrete abutments will be built which will include a new aluminium bridge in its place,” stated Council’s post on Facebook last week.
“The new bridge will be twice the width to allow for improved access for everyone.
“The span will also be clear, to improve water passage below.
“The pedestrian bridge is expected to be out of use for approximately 3 to 4 weeks, weather dependent, but the aim is for it to be completed before the next school holidays.
“The old timber bridge was approved to be upgraded in the 21/22 Council Capital Works Budget for approximately $230,000.”
