Kingston Fire Brigade state championships

Kingston Fire Brigade triumphed at the State Firefighter Championships held in Launceston's Invermay Park recently.
A total of 27 teams competed in the senior and junior sections over two days.
Kingston Fire Brigade's juniors finished first place overall for the Junior State Aggregate Award.
Their seniors came third place for the Division 2 Aggregate, which meant with juniors and seniors combined Kingston Fire Brigade took out first place for the entire event with the State Aggregate Award.
"Our guys and girls have spent weeks training for the championships and their hard work is evident in their results," Kingston Fire Brigade said.
"Even without medals, we would still be proud of their determination and outstanding display of teamwork that we see within our junior and senior members.
"Huge congratulations to our teams and to all other brigades around the state for a very fun and successful weekend."
Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) Acting Chief Officer Jeremy Smith said "The championships provide a great opportunity for TFS members to practice their operational skills in a controlled, competitive environment in the lead-up to Tasmania's bushfire season".
"It allows members from neighbouring brigades as well as those from other regions to establish friendships in a somewhat social setting, strengthening the TFS social fabric."
All the events are designed to simulate a potential scenario that firefighters may encounter in an operational context, both urban and rural.
Most of the equipment used is standard firefighting equipment that is used on a daily basis by TFS brigades.
