Channel students raise funds for Salvos appeal

Students at Channel Christian School in Margate presented a cheque of $1200 during a recent assembly to the Salvation Army for their winter action appeal.
The school’s mission goal in Term 3 was an outward focus to people in the local community who are struggling with the basic needs of living or have been affected by a disaster such as floods.
The students cooked and sold hot lunches to the whole school every Thursday for the term.
The school received an invitation from the local Salvation Army at Blackmans Bay for their Year 3 to 6 students to see and hear how money collected by the Salvation Army helps people in the community.
Feeding a family of four and a dog with $45 was one of the challenges which opened the student’s eyes about hardships people experience in our local community.
Sara Davidson from the Salvation Army received the cheque during the assembly on Friday, October 19 and told the school the money will stay in the local Kingborough community, assisting people in need.
Sara thanked the Channel community for the love and generosity shown to others.
