Input on CBD makeover

Kingston’s CBD is having a much-needed makeover next year.

Community consultation on the upgrade has commenced, with Kingborough Council currently seeking feedback on design elements for the Channel Hwy.
In a media release on December 2, Mayor Paula Wriedt said local feedback on the Kingston Place Strategy, adopted by Council in May 2020, highlighted the desire for an attractive, engaging and greener area.
“Council’s initial focus has been how we can incorporate as many of the strategy’s recommendations during the design process,” Cr Wriedt said.
“One of the challenges however is the width of the street, particularly the lack of space to accommodate street trees, wider footpaths, on-street dining, bike lanes and carparking.
“It is not possible to include all of these elements and so we are keen to get community feedback on the most important priorities for the upgrade.
“Residents will be able to have their say in a number of ways.
“These include a community survey, business workshops and engagement stalls in Kingston during Summer.”
For further details see the link on the front page of Council’s website.
Dates and times for engagement events will be published through social media, on Council’s website and in newspaper advertisements.
The survey is open until Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
