Kingston Fire Brigade celebrated its 80th anniversary with a public open day at the Fire Station on Saturday, October 1.

“First established in 1942, I’m pleased to say the Kingston Fire Brigade has now been servicing the Kingborough Municipality for 80 years,” said Chief Officer, Dermot Barry.

“As I attended the open day, I commend and thank current and past members of Kingston Fire Brigade for their ongoing support and commitment to Tasmania Fire Service and the community.”

Kingston Fire Brigade is a volunteer brigade with a crew of around 35 members, which has been at its current location for 40 years.

Brigade Chief, Andrew Stott said “the 80th anniversary open day was a great chance for the public to see their local station and trucks and to talk to the dedicated volunteer firefighters”.

Displays included local Brigade fire appliances, TFS museum appliances, a TFS aerial appliances, State Emergency Services, Remote Area Team, TFS Community Development and more.
