Stitch and share the dignity

With the giving season on the horizon, Kingborough’s Stitch and Share joined in Share the Dignity’s annual It’s in the Bag campaign.
Share the Dignity is a charity that supports women and girls experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or living it rough.
It’s in the Bag is a Christmas appeal that encourages everyday Australians to put together bags filled with essential items (and maybe some luxury items) to donate to those in need.
The filled bags are then dropped to any Bunnings store nationwide between November 18-27.
The local Stitch and Share group put together an impressive 21 bags to donate to women and young girls in distress.
“Stitch and Share was originally started as a friendship group to enable ladies from the Channel area to get to know like-minded people,” member Christine Larratt said.
The group has since grown in size and ambition to offer a place for its members to socialise, share recipes, sew and support a range of organisations.
Since 2016, Stitch and Share has donated 11,500 goodies to deserving charities and people in need.
They also donate money and on occasion run stalls to raise funds to help where they can.
Stitch and Share meet almost every Monday between 1.30pm to 3.30pm at the Kingborough Bowls Club.
