Kingston House of Dance student Sarah Gilmour is preparing to compete in the Margot Fonteyn International Ballet competition.
The competition will be held in London's Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
Year 12 student Sarah became eligible to participate after receiving a Distinction in her Advanced 2 RAD exam.
Sarah's coach Shayne Davies hopes to fly up to London with her.
The competition runs for more than a week, with workshops followed by three days of semi-finals in which Sarah will perform a classical variation, an original contemporary piece and a new work commissioned by the RAD (to be learnt at the workshops), as well as taking class live on stage in front of an audience.
All these activities form part of the selection process whereby a small number of candidates progress to the final.
