While the athletics world focuses on Paris, Margate runner and St Aloysius Catholic College alumnus Alexander McKillop already has his sights set on the 2028 Paralympics.
Alexander recorded a qualifying time for this year's Paralympics but missed out on joining Australia's team because spots were so hotly contested.
Instead, Alexander is planning his preparation for next year's world titles and beyond.
Labor Member for Franklin Meg Brown was one of many who supported Alexander's fundraising efforts in his quest for Paris, and she recently caught up with him and coach Rosemary Coleman.
Now 22, Alexander has been training in athletics since he was 14, and his coach has supported him the whole time.
He competes in the T36 (a disability classification for the Paralympics) 100m and 200m track races.
Ms Brown said Alexander's unwavering determination is "truly inspiring."
"He took home a bronze medal from the Oceania Championships, and he is doing the state proud," she said.
"Tasmanians have shown incredible generosity in supporting Alexander.
"This community backing is not just important, it's crucial for our athletes to pursue their dream of representing Tasmania and Australia."
Alexander continues raising funds to enable him and his volunteer coach to travel to competitions outside of Tasmania.

This year's Paralympics will start in Paris on August 26, and the 2028 event will be held in Los Angeles.
