Big weekend for Bruny Bowls Club

Big weekend for Bruny Bowls Club

The Bruny Island Bowls Club held their sponsors day on Saturday, October 13, with the committee hosting a barbeque for sponsors and bowlers.

During the event, a special presentation was made to founding member of the club, Leigh Higgins.
In recognition of his work and dedication to the club over the years, the Green is now the Leigh Higgins Green.
The weather was great for the event and an enjoyable day was had by all.
A special meeting was held the following day, on Sunday, October 14, to change the name to Bruny Bowls and Community Club Inc.
This motion was put and overwhelmingly carried.
Adventure Bay has grown very quickly with tourism and the club has become a focal point for people to meet, socialise, and discuss Island matters.
The new committee is sure these changes will make the club more inclusive for everybody on Bruny Island, and the club hopes to work closely with Local and State
Government to help facilitate the changing needs of locals and tourists alike.
