St Aloysius Catholic College celebrated the official opening and blessing of their new senior campus on Friday, May 24.
The new campus, located at 50 Huntingfield Avenue, offers students not just facilities purpose built for a 21st century education, but also a place in the college community for longer, as they now offer places right through to Year 12.
The building was blessed by Archbishop of Hobart the Most Reverend Julian Porteous, and officially opened by the Archbishop, College Principal Mr Paul Reidy and the Executive Director of Catholic Education Tasmania, Dr Gerard Gaskin.
The building has been named after Blessed Carlo Acutis, the first millennial saint, and purely by chance, the naming ceremony fell on the day that Carlo Acutis’ second miracle was recognised by Pope Francis.
Carlo Acutis tragically passed in 2006 at the age of 15 from leukaemia.
Following on from the liturgy and unveiling of the plaque, guests were treated to a delicious dessert charcuterie table created by talented St Aloysius students and Food Technologies staff, and coffee made by the college’s VET Hospitality students.
